Mothers Against Gun Violence

My Mission

My mission is to amplify the voices of gun violence survivors through the arts and advocacy. I’ve been privileged to share their powerful stories through theater, radio, publications, television, art exhibits, and the impactful interactive bus shelter murals. My hope is that these stories inspire action, fostering a community dedicated to reducing and ultimately ending gun violence.

Voices of Gun Violence is a living archive of stories of gun violence that impact individuals, families, and communities. This academic and community collaboration seeks to share stories to promote healing, understanding, and community action.

“To me, it’s crucial to emphasize that victims of gun violence should never be blamed for being shot or killed. Their stories must be heard, their lives honored, and their families embraced with support.”

Debra Gillispie, Founder of Mothers Against Gun Violence
